Heartburn has nothing to do with the heart, as the name suggests but it is about a burning feeling beside your breastbone that is usually accompanied by a sour and bitter taste in the mouth. This happens when the stomach acid reaches the lining of the esophagus. The burning sensation is due to the effect that the stomach acid has on the esophagus lining. Certain food products that trigger this are tomato products, alcohol, citrus items, also being overweight can also trigger this situation.

Winter is the best time to eat hot, fried and spicy food thus also the worst time to face issues related heart burn and acidity.
