A few years back I was a great Keto fan. That was the time when I was a nonvegetarian and a woman without arthritis. Yes, I am planning to write about my weight loss and health journey story again soon.

When we talk about the Keto diet, there are many misconceptions prevalent and one of them is whether homemade pickles are keto-friendly or not. Some of the keto followers believe that the lectin and hidden sugars in pickles can ruin all the hard work while some feel that the essential vitamins and minerals in the pickles are a wonderful high in a Keto diet. Being an inquisitive person even I wished to know if Pickles for Keto diet are a ‘Yay or Nay’. Let us know more about if pickles are Keto Diet-friendly or not.

My simple logic says that one can have pickles on a Keto diet if it doesn’t contain added sugar or carbohydrates in any form. Pickles can be perfectly low-carb and keto-friendly as a snack or even as a flavourful side dish during meals. The one thing that we need to be careful about choosing the readymade pickles as most of them contains added sugar which contributes to adding carbohydrates to a perfect Keto Diet and in turn ruining it.

Fermented pickles are undoubtedly the healthiest one as while fermenting, the process breaks down the sugar content in the pickle. In other words, it can be concluded that the carbs from sugars reduce to a large extent while fermenting. Obviously enough, in turn, the sour taste increases and makes the homemade fermented pickle the perfect choice for a Keto diet.

Though markets are full of Keto friendly products, yet there are very few options for fermented pickles on the shelves.  That is why I suggest preparing your own Keto Diet-friendly pickles and enjoy it guilt-free.
